“The Therapeutic Garden”
Dimora delle Virtù, Augusta (province of Siracusa)
27 September 2025

The social project Il Giardino Terapeutico (“The Therapeutic Garden”), which supports people with disabilities, has begun in “La Dimora delle Virtù”, a social and educational centre for people with diverse abilities in Augusta. The initiative is strongly promoted by Doctor Ielsa Speciale.

The conference held on 27 September marked the beginning of the project that will result in the creation of a therapeutic green space for the centre’s users, designed by Andrea Mati.

Alongside a landscape architect from Pistoia, a leading figure in the field of therapeutic gardens, several other people participated: Doctor Ania Balducci, a horticultural therapist; Doctor Salvatore Cacciola, sociologist and president of the Rete Fattorie Sociali Sicilia (network of Sicilian social farms); Doctor Carmela Tata, child neuropsychiatrist; Doctor Rossella Monaco, educator at the centre; and Doctor Massimiliano Salomone, psychologist and president of the social cooperative L’Albero Onlus.
